Your reading journey with us

From first conversation to a shelf full of treasured reads, here is how we guide you through the world of books.

Share your reading tastes

Tell us about the last few books you loved, the genres that pull you in, and the themes you keep returning to. Whether you gravitate toward literary fiction, deep-dive history, or speculative worlds, we want to understand your reading personality before recommending a single title.

Receive a curated shortlist

Within 48 hours our team assembles a personalised shortlist of five to eight books. Each recommendation comes with a brief note explaining why we think it suits you — not a generic blurb, but a genuine reason tied to your preferences and reading history.

Choose and order

Browse the shortlist at your own pace. Pick one title or several. We source editions thoughtfully — hardcovers, independent press printings, and beautifully designed paperbacks — and ship Australia-wide from our South Australian base.

Read, reflect, repeat

After you finish, share your thoughts with us. Your feedback sharpens every future recommendation. Many of our readers say the third or fourth cycle is where the magic really clicks — our suggestions become uncannily accurate.

Staff-curated book collections

These are not algorithm-generated lists. Each collection is assembled by a real person on our team who can tell you exactly why every title earned its place.

Questions readers often ask

Every recommendation starts with a conversation. We ask about your recent reads, what you enjoyed (and what fell flat), and the kind of experience you are looking for — whether that is intellectual challenge, emotional depth, escapism, or something else entirely. Our curators then draw from a catalogue of thousands of titles across dozens of publishers to build a shortlist tailored specifically to you. We never rely on automated algorithms.
Not at all. While we champion Australian writers and independent presses, our catalogue is genuinely international. You will find translated fiction from South America, narrative non-fiction from the United Kingdom, poetry from the Caribbean, and much more. If a book is excellent and available in English, it is on our radar.
Absolutely. Gift orders are one of our most popular services. Tell us about the recipient — their interests, reading habits, even their sense of humour — and we will select a book, wrap it thoughtfully, and include a handwritten note. It is a far more personal alternative to a generic gift card.
It happens, and we welcome that feedback. If a recommendation misses the mark, let us know why and we will refine your profile. We also offer a one-time exchange on your first order — send the book back in good condition and we will replace it with another curated pick at no extra cost.
Most orders ship from South Australia within one business day. Metro areas typically receive deliveries in two to four business days, while regional and remote locations may take five to seven. We use tracked shipping on every order so you can follow your book from our shelves to your doorstep.
